What is Deadbolt?
Deadbolt is an iPhone app blocker that helps you block distracting apps and stay focused. You pick apps and a duration, tap Bolt it, and those apps stay locked until time is up.
Does Deadbolt block Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube?
Yes. Deadbolt can lock Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, X and any other app on your iPhone, either on demand or on a recurring schedule.
How is Deadbolt different from Apple Screen Time?
Deadbolt is built on Apple Screen Time but is designed to be much harder to bypass. Screen Time limits are one tap to ignore; Deadbolt adds Strict Mode, a cooldown, and a walk-to-exit so you actually stop.
What is Strict Mode?
Strict Mode removes the instant exit from a session. To leave early you must wait out a ten-minute cooldown or walk 200 steps. The friction is deliberate — it keeps you from casually unlocking.
Can I bypass a block if I really need to?
Yes. There is always a real emergency exit, gated by a short cooldown or a walk. Deadbolt makes distraction harder, not impossible.
Can I schedule app blocks automatically?
Yes. You can set recurring daily schedules — overnight, work hours, study blocks — and Deadbolt locks the apps for you automatically, even when the app is closed.
Is Deadbolt free?
Deadbolt is free to download and includes core blocking. Deadbolt Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks longer sessions, unlimited blocklists, Strict Mode, daily schedules, and full stats history.
Does Deadbolt collect my data?
No. Deadbolt has no account and no third-party analytics or advertising tracking. Your app selections are handled as private tokens by Apple’s Screen Time framework and never leave your device.
Does Deadbolt work on iPhone?
Yes. Deadbolt is an iPhone app and requires iOS 17 or later. It uses Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) framework.
What languages does Deadbolt support?
English, German, Spanish, French, and Portuguese (Brazil). The app follows your device language automatically.
